Bad weather for the 2008 Padstow Vintage Rally
On the 4th- 6th of July, the wind and rain caused chaos.
The 3rd day of the rally had to be canceled for safety reasons as the whole site became a mud bath.
Our Neil Caddy went with the Pirate Crew on the Saturday, and our James Dundon went on the Sunday to talk to the exhibitors that make events like this so special.
This is the reason why Sunday had to be canceled... ankle deep mud! To get vehicles moving, 2 tractors had to pull at the same time.

On the lower field we did find a nice patch of untouched grass where they went ahead with the heavy horse judging...

and James was transported around site by Gary and the crew from Arc Enterprises... on the back of their mini pickup!

Listen out for the date of the Padstow Vintage Rally next year and try and make it along because it really is a true traditional family event, lets just hope for better weather!

Race For Life, Falmouth
Pirate FM is your OFFICIAL Race For Life radio station for Cornwall and will be attending all the local races - click here for more info.
James Martin and Sam Williams from the Pirate Crew were at the Falmouth race - along with 1,800 ladies! The race was fully subscribed and took the ladies from Gyllyngvase car park, up the sea front, around Pendennis Point and back along the sea front again.
The day started out grey and damp, but the cloud began to clear about an hour before the race started and by the time Fitness 4U were doing the aerobic warm-up; the sky was blue and the sun was blazing down.

May Day in Padstow
Pirate FM was in Padstow for the huge annual May Day celebrations.
The weather took everybody by surprise; despite the forecast saying rain, the day started with blue skies and sunshine and stayed dry well into the afternoon.
James Martin spent the day in Padstow, chatting to locals and visitors (from as far away as Holland and Australia!). Locals told him that the May Day celebrations are on a par with Christmas.
The carnival atmosphere in the town is very strong and is a day where everybody seems to be smiling - and for the local people who are involved it evokes powerful emotions, being a tradition which has been handed down since time immemorial - some believe that it goes back as far as the bronze age.
All in all, a colourful, vibrant day which attracts people from near and far.
